No parent knowingly puts their child in danger; however it seems that the message is still not getting through to families.
The Department of Local Government has printed their latest findings through NSW council dog attack incidents report (1 Oct – 31 Dec 09). It states that there were 793 dog attack incidents in NSW alone! Considering that this high number is only over 3 months, it is clear that a call to action is required to keep your students safe from harm.
With 3.7 million dogs throughout Australia it is paramount that education about dog safety begins in the school environment. Recent years it has been reported that children 8 and under are more commonly admitted to hospital for bites from dogs. More alarming, is the fact that over 50% of attacks come from the family pet! This statistic furthers the need to start educating dog safety to primary school children.
Dogs are an important aspect in children’s lives; it is vital that children are taught how to behave safely around dogs. Our “Dogsview” safety education program will benefit your students greatly and as a result will reduce the risk of dog attacks towards your students.
Safety is our top priority and needs to be yours too! Our goal is to reduce dog attacks in NSW and as a result create a community that is confident and educated in dog safety.
